I also do not know who to thank. (and gloat at. Pumpkins! Leaves! Crows!)

Anyone up for confessing, or do I resort to emailing Humans Who Know My Address?

taennyn: (dried memories of summer)
Standard header info: My birthday is the 5th of January. Receiving ciders or an art card would please me.
I've kind of fallen off the perfume wagon, so will just mention that I like baking-spice smells in sugar scrubs and soaps if you're doing a Themed Wintergifting Season already. :)
I like autumnal themes (including fallen leaves and thunderstorms); I am easily lured by corvidae, translucent opals, Speyside Scotches and dark forest greens.

I know many of us are skint this gifting season. Presents of any variety are never expected, but getting a 'Hey. you. I like you' email at some point in the winter would be lovely.

Building this list took unexpectedly long. I choose to blame school. 's been a while since I was a student. )

So Miz Mooz finally made a new green ballet flat!

They named it Deb. )

See, I've got a Thing about green shoes.

Enough of a Thing that I've gradually (accidentally) trained various pilates classmates to assume out loud that the pretty green shoes in the pile by the cubbies are mine.

They've never been wrong. >.>

As per standard, No Pink. Anything Pink goes to M's sister Norka or Veggie's unsuspecting coworkers. =P

New disclaimer: Above and beyond the 'I'll hiss at you and attempt to beat you with them' Don't Buy Me Roses* command, apparently I throw the smell of roses harder than I throw the smell of frankincense. And I throw the smell of frankincense.

General Notes: My birthday is 5th January if you like marking those events with Things. I am slightly allergic to lavender & cumin, and am sensitive to patchouli and florals like gardenia and jasmine. I hate roses*. I am easily lured by ravens, scuttling-in-the-wind leaves, opals**, Speyside Scotches, knives, and dark greens (with no admixture of yellow. Olive shoes are a travesty).

*: Stupid fantasy story and its stupid iconography and modern culture's love for that iconography . . .

A broad 'Shopping for Taes' entry resides here.

Buy me NOTHING THAT IS PINK. Anything bought specifically for trolling purposes is going direct to M's sister Norka.

My personal colour inclinations are strongly towards black, cobalt, hunter green, pure white, forest green, dark brown, teal, cool greys and desaturated green. I wear a lot of blue and turquoise because they're easier to find than the greens I really like.

That said, I love fall motifs and the color palette associated there: burnt oranges, evergreens, harvest browns, rusty browns, golds, wheat sepias, etc.

My birthday is 5th January. I like birthday presents. This can include random delivery of bubble tea or a wee collection of foiled glass beads*. Or fourpacks of imported ciders like Strongbow or Foundry.

*: example, example 2; other names for this style can include Venetian or murano glass. I prefer the flattened ones that do translucent colour over gold or silver. If you got me a matched set I might make earrings at some point.

Basically, you don't have to break the bank to find something I'll like. I've tried for a mix of affordable and somewhat less affordable* on the list. If nothing else, Amazon's prices for used books can be kind of terrifying. O.o;

*: what Scotch habit?

2013 list under the cut. :) )

Just in case, there's a broad Shopping For Taes entry. Previous wishlists and the broad list, and this list, can be found under the 'acquistive glee' tag.

So, before Liz is obliged to mug me, a winter wishlist:

In the event you find yourself presented with the great and terrible prospect of buying me Stuff, here, have some guidelines.

Scented Stuff )

Noisy Stuff: Uh. Basically, growly, bouncy, and folk, and overlapping two of those is awesome. Examples of bands:
divided by gender of frontman )

Printed Stuff: themed or regional nonfiction history. )
Buy used, guys. Buy cheap. Falling apart is nonideal but if the book has a story I'm willing. :)

Sipping Stuff )

Soft Stuff: I really like jersey fabrics (including bamboo) and merino wool (silk-merino blends will always catch my eye). Cool bright tones: green (emphasis teal to blacked-green), blue (aqua to cobalt), black-white spectrum (emphasis between silver and charcoal).
My personal palette is black, cobalt, hunter green, pure white, forest green, dark brown, teal, cool grey and desaturated green. That said, I love fall motifs and the color palette associated there: burnt oranges, evergreens, harvest browns, rust-browns, golds, wheat sepias, etc.
If you're in doubt, consult a hydrogen.

Sharp Stuff (so I like knives) )

Shiny Stuff )

Iconographic Stuff: corvidae (silhouettes, sketches), lightning/storms, fallen maple leaves, oak leaves (generally singles), gingko leaves (both on the ground and the branch), harvest coloured (gold, rust, brown, etc) or themed (grains, autumnal foliage, etc) things.

Easy Stuff (aka Gift Cards; some companies/sites may require a fair bit of work): Nordstrom, iTunes, MEC, Bravissimo, Etsy, Amazon, Big Dipper Wax Works, Smart Set, Powell's Books, Maurices, Core Kinetics Movement Studio, the Whisky Exchange and Total Wines. (see above in Sipping Stuff)

'Makes Me Giggle' Stuff:
• penguins. Blame Madagascar and Polar Expedition. Yes, really.
• Eddie Izzard; I have Glorious and Definite Article
• Stephan Fry (who I just like)
• sketches of foxes
• hungover owls

So, as the requests have progressed through commands and are now arriving at implications of bodily harm, herein follows my winter's wishlist.

Several initial notes:

First, I am in the process of beginning the trimdown to moving; as such, I will be weeding my possessions to 'things I am willing to box and take with me'--this wishlist is somewhat abbreviated as a result.

Second, while my personal palette is black, cobalt, hunter green, pure white, dark brown, teal, cool grey and desaturated green, I have a glorious fixation on fall motifs and the color palette associated there: burnt oranges, evergreens, harvest browns, rust-browns, golds, wheat sepias, etc. If you are trying to buy me clothing, the personal palette is preferable; if you are buying accessories or things to surround myself with, please go for the fall palette.

herein the list itself )

I'm not doing the header text, as one, most of you have seen it already, and two, I'm a Twelfth Night baby, so this is two lists in one.
