What is your username?
taennyn
Write a little paragraph about your username, why you chose it, what it means to you, etc.
I think I snagged it out of a list of fantasy names—that’s about all that comes up if I do a google search that isn’t directly connected to me—for a character that never was. Ended up needing/wanting an AIM name around that time (this was previous to 2000, if that's any indication, I've probably been associated with the name since I was fourteen or fifteen), and used ‘taennyn’ for the simple reason that it worked, it was recognisable and it didn’t connect to anything in my head yet. The livejournal was named for the AIM name in 2002, back when they were still doing invite codes.
theredmarina,
apocalypselater and I were all sharing a rooming house that summer for an intensive Russian-second-year class, and I said yes when Marina offered me a code.
What would you change your name to, if you were changing it?
I don’t really have any desire to change it. Possibly something like ‘a rogue’s gallery’.
Why that?
There was a bookstore on First Avenue that had a very old book as one of their displays in the history section, entitled ‘A Book of Rogues and Imposters’, which always struck me as terribly neat phrasing. The gallery is an extension of that.
What is your favorite username?
I don’t particularly have one. ~metezashi still strikes me as neat, if only because it’s fitting/appropriate without being upfront about it.
Why?
“The Metezashi (right-hand use) is a short sword, stuck in the girdle behind the hilt to the right, used in fighting if the wearer be thrown and unable to draw the swords on the left side of the girdle.” A japanese blade worn on the wrong side, to be used in danger.

No, thank you.
