and he lifted his face to the sky, his feet sure on the deck of the tossing ship, smiling fiercely up into the storm.
And for all the fury of the sky above, lightning a crackle of some god’s lance or the greatest sailor’s yardarm dancers ever seen, thunder like the belling of war drums, the sea did not dance to the sky’s tune. Oh, it swelled and tossed like a restless sleeper, but it did not try to catch the lightnings, reaching in three-ships’-high waves to snatch at the clouds above.
And lightning crackled at the tips of their sorcerer’s fingers.
