Oh, the shiny. For all that the sushi place was closed; we had nine people--
hopeofdawn,
jenserai,
aenid,
earrindo,
billradish, teh Radish's parents, moi, and my mother. So much interesting conversation was had. The Radish's parents were mildly boggled when she and I exchanged legal names while waiting for the stragglers. There was more boggling when we mentioned that this was the first time we'd physically met and we'd only been talking for a month. There was much amusement.
First half of the show was fairly slow, Mad Russian's Christmas and Christmas Eve Sarajevo nonwithstanding, because there was much recitation of bits of Christmas Eve & Other Stories, which slowed down the awe a bit. The light show was v. colourful (and I'm very nearly glad we weren't closer to the stage, maman would have been deaf and I'd have been blind).
Then the second half hit. The keyboardists took off, a fiddler was bouncing about the stage, and there were flamethrowers. I had a kitsune doing the rapt stare (with the expectation of flicky tails), who I think dragged a mildly bemused Kickback along, for damn near the rest of the show.
I am under strict instruction to purchase the new CD when it becomes available, and it was suggested that the lead-in to the New Song was to be 12/24 Sarajevo.
Also, falling asleep to the sounds of a French-language movie--which the closer to sleep one gets, the more the language sounds understandable--makes for distinctly odd dreams.
