'half-rotted leaves' - Trickwood spring
Date: 2009-01-20 06:11 pm (UTC)From:If one kept to the high places, exposed wet stones and the curved arches of tree roots, one could navigate safely, but spring was coming, and with it the floods.
People could taste half-rotted leaves in the back of their throats for months afterwards, residual mud from building dams or digging drainways.
( . . . lost the thread, sorry.)
'bear trap' - Wild Roses, Hazel and Lin and Destroyer of Worlds
Date: 2009-01-20 06:13 pm (UTC)From:" . . . You do realise he's seriously considering trying to gnaw your hair off your skull, yes?"
"Yup. :D"
'mackerel' - Deaths, the Morrigan
Date: 2009-01-20 06:18 pm (UTC)From:"Mm-hmm." She swallowed. "Incredibly fresh, it actually tastes better this way. Cooked it loses the texture."
"Do I want to know how you discovered this?"
"You'd be amazed to discover what you're willing to eat when you're hungry and soaked so completely that fire's out of the question," she said mildly, then took another bite.
(This may or may not be complete crack. It may be a similar-textured freshwater fish from Russia someplace, filling in?)
