[facepalming] Oh hai, Ballard HS, which I did not graduate from only by the grace of 4 months spent on Bainbridge. I can't imagine the region with condos, I really can't. x_X

....I kind of want a "free republic of ballard" sticker now. *snerk*

LOL! If you happen to come across one easily (don't put yourself out) it could take up a place of pride next to the blitzball league sticker that also confuses fellow drivers. ^_^

The outskirts of downtown Winslow are damn near unrecognisable. Population's somewhere upwards of 24,000, and it's starting to show.

I miss the Bainbridge of when I was little, even though I'm aware that it's entirely likely that the image[s] in my head are just that. =\

=-= I wasn't that little. I remember it quite clearly - I could walk along the road for half the island and only run into (maybe!) two cars, tops. CRAZY!

Even by the mid '90s that wasn't possible--I'd see ten cars hiking home from Fay Bainbridge or hiking to school at Battlepoint.

I was in the transition, I think, from the Bainbridge-that-was (rural, full of hippies, activists and strawberry farms) to the Bainbridge-that-is (a nasty case of yuppies--most of the third-generation families had to move off-island when the property taxes went WHEEE! =\ ). I think I'd have liked Bainbridge-that-was.

I think I was at the tail end of brainbridge-that-was - it was starting to be more popular (and the prices spiking higher) right around/after the time we moved away from it. Mom stayed there a year longer than I did (I was transitioning to SU's dorms) and she wasn't happy with how more crowded the ferries were getting for the commute. But yeah... I remember the place as nearly deserted except for the downtown pocket. Green roads with nary a car on 'em.
