He snuck up on her in the shape of an owl, the sound of his wings barely enough for her to register, the movement in the air around her easier to track, but he was faster than her, swooped in, shedding feathers and wings in motion.

Cupped her jaw in strong hands that were just the instant before the phalanges of delicate wings, kissed her with a mouth that tasted faintly of fur, then let her go as he dropped down to a smaller shape--a fox, maybe?--and ran on four feet away from her under the light of the stars.

Throughly disconcerted, she raised a hand to her mouth, brushed her lower like with the tips of her fingers, instead of giving chase with word or wish.
