taennyn: a girl sitting in front of a field of fallen leaves (Default)
The heat wave can break aaaaanytime now. Because I am not looking forward to needing to get me, my clothes, and my damned computer to the train station Monday afternoon. My hand already hates me.

In less 'oh dear god surely I can move into the fridge' news, I have new shoes.

Specifically these shoes, which look startlingly awesome with a more-or-less tiny skirt (I have an insufficiency of skirts up here, and the grey one's covered in sunscreen*). I would be doing the Dance of Gloat if they were less olive and more teal. Or emerald. Mostly, less yellow would be aces. I may research paints that will stick to patent leather.

We went to a night market with [livejournal.com profile] goldjadeocean and Zach's mum tonight. That was kind of fun. We got a Van Gogh print and a couple of leetle prints by Benda and Rousseau. Not sure where I'm putting the little ones, they're all rusty tones, but I'm sure I'll figure out something.

This has been your update on the state of the Tae.

*: I hate sunscreen. It makes me break out, the smell eventually gives me a headache, and I feel like I've been dipped in olive oil.

I hate sunburns more. Guess how much I love the heatwave. Yeeeah.

Re: Sunscreen.

I recommend the Neutrogena spray-on sunscreen. Aerosol. Goes on very light, doesn't make you feel oily and slimy, doesn't make your skin break out, works like a charm even on my vampire pale skin and even in the pool.

I bought it for road trips because as it turns out, if I drive during daylight hours for more than a few hours, my left arm gets ROASTED.

...they are rather pretty shoes. (Despite rumours to the contrary, I am capable of appreciating pretty shoes. On other people).

Well, I quite like the colour too (but then I have a fondness for olive/khaki kind of colours, so).

(Also, if I were to put them on, I would stand up and immediately be uncomfortable - even *flat* girl-shoes feel uncomfortable to me - plus I would probably fall on my face the moment I stopped paying attention to my feet. I'm *used* to my boots... :D )

I'm a 10, normally. And yeah, I tend to prefer the cute blocky ones over the pointy stuff. As for color change, y'have to strip the glossy stuff off with acetone before you can get paint to grip on, and multiple thin layers are better than trying to glop it on, paint your strokes all one way, a and then do it again the other way, and y'have to make sure ti's good and dry between coats so it has no excuse to crack off. (I've also found that a bit of powered laundry detergent in your acrylics makes it hold better to stuff like leather and fabrics, etc.). Then if you want, you can put the gloss back on. ...Or I can find an internet tutorial that basically says the same sort of thing when I try to search for the brand of glossy stuff to use: http://www.cutthecraft.com/2011/06/how-to-paint-patent-leather-aka.html

I've painted the scuffed up parts on my weird-colored metallic docs and it works pretty well (i still keeping meaning to paint a pattern on the toes and heels tho. I ran out of attention).

*smacks lj comment field* I WASN'T DONE OK

Hurrah for the change of weather. Circulation issues suck.

I've been pleasantly surprised (and also tormented!) by how often my boot and shoe pr0n comes in my size. the pair of tall boots I have came used; the only thing that annoys me is that the top 8 inches or so use speedlaces instead of eyes and I always end up catching the fuckers on something and ripping them out. Speedlaces hurt my soul.

adds: If you don't mind them darker as well as getting rid of the yellow, dye might be a good option too--sometimes a bit unpredictable when it comes to actual results, but less likely to run into cracking from being too heavily applied or the wrong consistency or whatnot.
